Liebster Award #2

Happy New Year lovelies! I hope you've brought the New Year in with optimistic views for 2013, I surely have. I'm proud and flattered to say I've been nominated for the Liebster Award for a second time since I've started my blog. During my blog move to wordpress, I was nominated by another blogger but never got around to posting about it. I made sure I wouldn't miss out this opportunity! So thank you to Holly from Fashion Realist, just click her name to be directed straight to her blog, it's outstanding much like herself!

Rules:
  • The award is for bloggers with under 300 followers only.
  • Nominees must link bank to those who nominated them.
  • Those nominated must state 11 random facts about themselves and answer the 11 questions given to them by the blogger who nominated you.
  • Make up 11 new questions to be answered by another 11 bloggers chosen by you.

11 Random Facts About Me:
  1. I curl my toes whenever I'm sat down which tends to freak some people out.
  2. I met David Beckham while shopping when I was roughly 7/8 but I never knew it was actually him until I was older. Regret not getting a photo now.
  3. Slight OCD when planning trips out with friends/family. I must know all the possible routes/transport systems home and timings of what were doing, I oftenly write it all out on paper beforehand.
  4. I don't want to settle for one job so I'd aspire to be a part time Jounalist/Artist/DJ.
  5. I feel I've become the person I wanted to be from a young age in the way I dress, act and present myself to others.
  6. Having children when I'm older is something I don't want to do.
  7. I can't have hot baths as my body gets over-heated very quickly resulting in me resembling a lobster and having to take breaks out the bath between shampooing and conditioning.
  8. Damien Hirst is in my eyes one of the best artists to grace the Earth.
  9. Because I'm a die hard fan, I queue outside concert venues from 8AM till 7PM at night no matter how bad the weather is.
  10. I'm a big cat person.
  11. Buy me cranberry juice and fanta fruit twist and I'll be your best friend.
Holly's Questions:

1. What 3 things would you take with you if you were stuck on a Desert Island?

-
Assuming there was no wifi connection/signal it'd probably be 1) Sun lotion 2) 18 x 20 x 10 Shed 3) Thick Mattress

2. Who is your Celebrity Idol or Role Model?

- There's different people for different reasons but the main two are Alex Gaskarth as he's surpassed the death of his brother, moving countries and relationships with people and has still been on top form 24/7 with his band and fans. Noel Fielding as he's stood out of the crowd from his London hometown to creative such initiative and interesting art/comedy on his own two feet and never changed himself to better his fame.

3. What's your Party Trick?

- I used to think I was cool because I could make my nostrils go into my nose for a few minutes which made me look like Michael Jackson after all his plastic surgery. But I can't do that any longer, so I haven't got a 'party trick.'

4. If you knew the world was going to end in 24 hours, how would you spend them?

- Blimey! That's a really hard question, who knows what I'd do. I'd probably see my family/friends then just get absolutely wasted. I wouldn't wanna be sat there waiting for the world to end, I'd wanna be distracted with booze and music ha.

5. Do you like your name?

- Yeah, I tend to go by my last name but I really like my first name (Melissa). It's unusual as I only known one other person over the seventeen years of my life with the same name, I quite like long flowing names. My full title (its long) is Melissa Rachel Claire Valentina Fagan.

6. What is your favourite place to shop?

- Hands down Topshop! Next question.. haha.

7. Describe yourself in 5 words?

- Realist, Hot-Headed, Compassionate, Artistic, Thinker.

8. What type of Movie do you prefer?

- I'm a huge film buff, I have a crazy collection of DVD's even though I could watch half the things on TV/Online. I love a good romantic film but I'm also a fan of gore films (Saw, Hostel etc) anything really floats my boat, except war/fantasy films.

9. If you could change a law, which would you change, and what to?

- This is something that I feel England needs to combat crimes against sex trafficking, rape, mass murder, pedophilia etc and it's to bring back the death penalty. It's such a controversial punishment globally however it's not given out lightly. You would have to be a repeat offender to crimes like I stated above, once you're convicted three times then you would face the death penalty. Even though it exists in America, it has been sanitized from the electric chair which caused pain to the lethal injection which is painless. Which I think is out of order as they have hurt families etc so they should suffer as much pain as possible before death, but that's my extremely strong opinion.

10. If you could be stuck in an elevator with any Celebrity you like, who would you choose and why?

- From celebrities I've already met it would be Noel Fielding and Jack Barakat purely because they're so down to Earth and genuine people who make me laugh. However out of those who I haven't met it would either be Barack Obama, Lady Gaga or Felix Kjellberg (Pewdiepie) because they seem like people I would get along with and seem laid back.

11. Where is the first place you would go if you were given £1000?

- That's quite some money! Out of common sense, I'd visit the bank first to make sure all the money was safe but then I'd probably really treat myself and buy the Chanel classic flap bag in size large. They're a huge staple piece and I always admire Chanel for their leather goods, then if I had some money left over I'd get some Marc Jacobs perfume.

Nominees Questions:

  1. If you could have any super power for 48 hours what would it be and why?
  2. You get offered £10,000 to sign your blog over to some corporate company which you will have no say over anything that is written, it will still be under your name etc. Would you accept? Give reasons for your answer.
  3. Which are better cats or dogs?
  4. What do you expect to of achieved by the age of 34?
  5. If you could be the leading role in a film of your choice who would you have directing and type of film would it be?

Birthday & Christmas

Christmas week has been a busy one for my family and I, those of you who know me in person know it was my birthday on the 24th and then Christmas the day afterwards. Quite a few people have already uploaded their Christmas post but I thought I'd include my birthday and Christmas gifts together. Now to go through the stupid but necessary jargon of "I'm not showing off what I've been bought, I'm simply presenting images of said gifts to you etc etc." I do know some people are less fortunate than others but these selected photos are a combination of two heavily gifted events, so I hope you can enjoy what I've been bought (I know I will) and maybe see something you want to pick up yourself. Christmas Presents For The Whole Family Under £25

Top Row - Jones Clock £22.40 || Cream Flowers £22.40
Bottom Row - Lilac Candle £4.80 || Cream Block Calendar £16.00

The first photo set would be for the woman of the house, not every woman wants a several boxes of chocolates off their family members. I feel these pieces can be adapted to your home interior extremely easy as 3/4 are neutral white / cream shades. The 'Carol Lake' candle is available in a variety of different colours but I felt the lilac shade would bring some colour into the home, for the New Year.

All these items are quite simple but can be the difference of a chic look to your kitchen or a more relaxed and comfortable feel to your lounge area. These presents would also work very well with girls in their later teens (17+) as they could have a strong love for interior design or be heading out to university next year.

Top Row - L'Occitane After Shave Balm £16.57 || Burberry Scent £22.68
Bottom Row - Chunky Knit Socks £7.00 || BaByliss Grooming Set £20.00

As you've probably guessed, the next photo set is for the male in the house. With 'Movember' ending this month, I'd imagine some men may of kept the facial hair as it's quite cold right now in the UK. So why not treat them to some new blades and after shave balm to treat that rough skin. Ladies should know how damaged your skin gets after shaving your legs numerous times especially over the winter period, so why let his facial skin suffer the same punishment.

They'll have no excuse to be smelly anymore with thick cable knit socks to not only keep their feet warm but trap the smell inside. As well as that, the Burberry scent will keep them smelling sweet with a warm masculine under tone in time for the New Years Eve party and long afterwards.

Top Row - Nurse Kit £9.10 || Hamster & Fun house £11.00
Bottom Row - Superplay House £20.00 || Flitter Fairy £14.00

All little girls under the age of 11 would love everything and anything from this photo set, they may be simple toys but a child's imagination can go far with the littlest things. They can pretend to cure everybody of their winter flu, or care for that hamster they've always wanted. Which ever it is, there's a diverse variety of toys for little girls this year.

You don't need to pay crazy prices do treat your little girl to something as simple as a toy house or a magical fairy princess with sparkly wings. This way you can buy more and more gifts with the money you're saving through these cheaper Christmas presents.

Top Row - Fire Engine £14.00 || Mini Racer Cars £12.50
Bottom Row - Mike The Knight ABC Book £16.00 || Magic Trick Kit £4.99

Lastly it's the little boy's turn to be spoiled rotten on Christmas for under £25. You can never go wrong with buying a young lad numerous amounts of toy racer cars, let them think they're racing in the F1 championships. If they're into service cars that make load noises, the fire fighter engine is the perfect present. Being larger than toy cars they can feel like they own the street, as they speed around their bedroom saving their toy figures.

If fast cars doesn't appeal to them, why not introduce them into the magical world of illusion with the simple 12 piece magic kit. You never know, it may set them off for a long successful career into magic. (It's how Derren Brown started out) If they're a little younger, you can get them the musical alphabet book with 'Mike The Knight' and they can learn with their favourite characters from the TV show.

TAG | Christmas Questions

I thought I'd do something different today and answer a few questions from the Christmas
Tag that's been floating around peoples blogs. I wasn't tagged by anybody, but after reading Megan Lillie's (http://thumbelinalillie.com/) it got me thinking of what my answers would be. So without further a do, my Christmas Tag.
